LAHORE: Board of Revenue Senior Member Babar Hayat Tarar has said 187,000 acres of government lands worth Rs470 billion have been evacuated across Punjab.
He was addressing a press conference here on Saturday. He said that the gazetteers of 12 cities have been completed and Lahore cadaster will be completed by November 15.
Mr Tarar further said that the digital service would be provided to the people at their doorsteps across the Punjab. Board of Revenue Senior Member Babar Hayat Tarar said earlier one register of land records was digitized and now the whole record was being digitized.
‘We have set up these record centers using existing government buildings. And the overseas Pakistanis would be able to transfer their land while sitting in their respective embassies. He said around 20 mobile vans were working to complete the project.
For the first time in the history of Pakistan, the gardwari system was being digitized, he added. He said the fee for agriculture land which has been converted into a commercial one, will be decided later. The member said the digital cadaster of Lahore City will be ready by November 15 and the city gazetteers will be completed this year.
He said the gazetteers have been completed in 12 cities. The rest of the cities will be ready soon. All the diary events (roznamcha), will be available online at the end of November. In fact the up-to-date
data about land records will be provided.
Tarar said that 217,000 acres of government land was occupied in Punjab. Out of which 187,000 acres of government land worth Rs. 470 billion has been relinquished. ‘We have redeemed the area from the occupiers. The lands given in various livestock schemes have been acquired by the government’. The occupied government lands in Cholistan and DG Khan Rajanpur have not been identified yet. Different
lands have allocated in various cities for higher education. He added that Walton Central Business District Authority has also been allotted land on profit sharing. The tax wing should audit all its tax
collection.
