An Indian couple who live in a flood-prone area used an unconventional mode of transportation to go to their wedding venue: a cooking pot.
According to Akash Kunjumon, he and his wife, Aishwarya, were officially married on October 6, although their wedding ceremony was scheduled for October 18.
The ceremony was originally scheduled to take place at a temple in Thalavady, but due to recent rains, the temple building was flooded, therefore the event was moved to a nearby hall with a stage that had not been flooded.
Kunjumon told the media, “Although we tried to arrange a small boat to reach the venue, none was available.”
“People from the temple arranged the pot for us,” he added.
The pair stepped into a huge cooking pot and was pushed through floodwaters to reach the celebration hall, as shown on film.
Kunjumon said, “It took us at least 20 minutes to get to the event in that pot.”
To get to their wedding, the volunteers pushing the pot had to overcome “a strong undercurrent.”
