Shaheen equals Shahid Afridi’s record for most World Cup five-fers

LAHORE: Shaheen Afridi has become second Pakistani player to take five-wicket haul in world cup tournaments.

The left-arm seamer achieved the milestone in a match against Australia during ongoing World Cup 2023. In late breakthroughs, he removed Mitch Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood to claim his second five-wicket haul.

With this feat, he has also equaled the record of his father-in-law Shahid Afridi for two World Cup five-fers. It is also the second five-wicket haul of this year’s event.

However, the Pakistani bowlers could not restrict Aussies from posting a big total of 367 runs in the 18th match of the event.
