LAHORE: In the Youhanaabad area of Lahore, the Christian community organizes a 30 days iftar for Muslims. This is a great example of religious harmony.
Raja Volter says he started the work in a lockdown caused by the coronavirus. At a time when the whole world was in turmoil due to the economic situation, they came out with a one-time meal for the affected people. Lots of people supported him and there was good management but in the third wave of this Corona, his own food point is also closed.
He says that now with the help of three to four friends, a series of iftars have been started to strengthen religious harmony and this process will continue as long as God gives courage.
His daily expenses are 10 to 15 thousand. He is still trying to give a good package. Today’s Iftar package includes Bread, Dal, and Dates. They try to include fruits and bakery items also. They also keep changing this package.
He appealed for funds in many places but got no positive response.
“Even if I don’t have many people with me, I’m satisfied with what I’m doing,” said Raja Volter.
He further said that I have ten workers, two of the shopkeepers, and the rest are volunteers who work for free. They first come and clean the place and then do the packing etc. I have come here for those who go to bed hungry even after working all day. I have brought food for them. I am happy that doing this will definitely benefit me before God. I am getting a lot of love from people. I keep getting calls from people all day long and I am getting a lot of prayers.
He further said that when fasting comes, we eradicate hatred from the heart. Our heart is also pure and our intention is also pure. But not only in the month of Ramadan but throughout the year we should look at each other with love so that we can work together for Pakistan.
