Head coach Misbah hints at return of senior cricketers for England tour

Pakistan men’s team head coach Misbah-ul-Haq has hinted at the return of senior cricketers in the upcoming tour of England.

The 46-year-old Misbah talked to reporters virtually from Harare and talked on various expects after Pakistan defeated Zimbabwe by 2-0 in the Test series.

“The series against England would be the last to try out combination. After that, we will finalize the squad that will potentially play the T20 World Cup,” Misbah said.

“The tour of England won’t be easy and the option of bringing back seniors would also come under consideration,” he added.

“We are just concerned about our middle-order in white-ball cricket. We have to do something in that regard,” he maintained.

Misbah also turned down the notion that the management doesn’t provide chances to the youngsters while also emphasized that older players can also play if fit.

“In our country, it seems like that a young man is sixteen years old. Or a player gets old at the age of twenty? How many old players are there in the current Pakistan team?,” he asked the critics.

“Both the captain and the vice-captain are young. We have provided ample chances to young players,” he added.

“Despite overage, if a player is fit, he can play Test cricket. Older players must be given a chance to play as performances, fitness and requirement of the team matters, not the age,” he maintained.
