سوئٹزر لینڈ (نیٹ نیوز/ایمرا نیوز) سوئٹزر لینڈ میں ایک مسلمان نوجوان نے اپنے دوست کے اچانک سامنے آنے پر ”اللہ واکبر“ کے الفاظ ادا کیے تو پولیس نے اس پر تیس ہزار روپے(210سوئس فرانک) جرمانہ عائد کردیا۔غیر ملکی میڈیا کے مطابق بائیس سالہ مسلمان نوجوان آرحان ای سوئٹزر لینڈ کے شہر شف ہاون کا ہی رہنے والا ہے، جہاں اس کی اچانک ملاقات اپنے دوست سے ہوگئی جسے دیکھتے ہی حیرانگی سے انہوں نے نعرہ تکبیر اللہ اکبر بلند کیا،جس پر پولیس نے دہشتگرد انہ حملے کے خوف سے ان پر جرمانہ عائد کردیا۔ یہ واقعہ گزشتہ برس مئی میں پیش آیا۔آرحان کا کہنا تھا کہ وہ اسی شہر میں پیدا ہوا،اسے پہلے کبھی ایسے تجربے کا سامنا نہیں ہوا۔ پولیس نے مسلح ہتھیاروں کے ساتھ ا ن کی تلاشی لی جب انہوں نے اپنے دوست کا سامنا کرنے پر حیرانگی سے ”اللہ اکبر“ کے الفاظ ادا کیے۔انہوں نے کہا کہ اچانک پولیس افسر نے مجھے بلایا اور پوچھا کہ اس اصطلاح یا الفاظ کا مطلب کیاہے جس پر انہوں نے پولیس افسر کو وضاحت سے بتایا کہ اس سے مرادکسی کو نقصان دینا نہیں بلکہ جب کسی سے ملاقات ہوتی ہے تو ا س وقت یہ بولتے ہیں اور تقریباً ہم ہر دوسرے جملے کے ساتھ ان الفاظ کو ادا کرتے ہیں جس پر پولیس حکام نے انہیں دھمکایا کہ اگر انہوں نے جرمانہ ادا نہ کیا تو انہیں جیل بھیج دیں گے، پولیس نے 150 سوئس فرانک کا جرمانہ کیا اور مزید ساٹھ فرانک کے ساتھ210فرانک جمع کرانے کا حکم دیا۔پولیس نے اپنے اقدام کا دفاع کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ ان کے یہ الفاظ لوگوں کو خوفزدہ کرسکتے تھے، پولیس نے ویسا ہی کیا جیسا اس صورت حال میں کیا جاسکتا ہے۔پولیس ترجمان کا کہنا تھا کہ ممکنہ طور پر لوگوں میں خوف وہراس پھیل سکتا تھا، یہی وجہ تھی کہ پولیس افسر کواس صورتحال کا معائنہ کرنا پڑا کیونکہ حالیہ سالوں میں دہشت گرد حملوں میں اس اصطلاح کا استعمال کیا گیا۔ایک اورپولیس افسر کا کہنا تھا کہ اظہار کا یہ انداز ایسا تھا جو جرمانے کا سبب بنا۔

PERTH: Roger Federer geared up for his Australian Open title defence in convincing fashion, guiding Switzerland to a 2-1 triumph over Germany on Saturday for their fourth Hopman Cup crown.

Federer and Belinda Bencic beat Alexander Zverev and Angelique Kerber 4-0 1-4 4-3(4) in the mixed doubles decider to win the trophy at the Perth Arena in a repeat of the 2018 final.

The world number three had earlier shown why he is a firm favourite for the season’s first major, firing 24 winners and nine aces in a flawless 6-4 6-2 victory over ATP Finals champion Zverev.

Kerber too maintained her 100 per cent singles record with a 6-4 7-6(6) victory over Bencic to level the tie at 1-1, but the Germans failed to make the most of their opportunities as they went down in the tight mixed doubles rubber.

“I’m happy I’m feeling this good and playing as well as I am,” said Federer, who has won the last two Australian Open titles after taking part in the mixed-team event.

Federer has beaten Frances Tiafoe, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Cameron Norrie and Zverev in straight sets and will be full of confidence heading into Melbourne Park later this month.

“It’s good to finish on a singles performance like this. I’m a bit surprised the matches have gone as well as they have,” the 37-year-old added.

It was Federer’s third title success in the Hopman Cup, more than any other player, following victory in 2001 alongside then world number one Martina Hingis and last year’s win with Bencic.

Federer and Bencic are also the first pair in the event’s 31-year history to retain their title.

“I’m very happy about these records, but I didn’t come here for that,” 20-times major champion Federer said.

“What a thrill it was — not just the match point but also the whole match and the whole week. It’s great fun.

“I’m happy, I’m proud to represent my country. It’s been a super pleasure teaming with Belinda.”

Switzerland’s first win in the competition was secured by Manuela Maleeva-Fragniere and Jakob Hlasek in 1992.

It is a digital wearable heath record, durable, waterproof and at the same time very affordable – not more than a dollar. It doesn’t need battery and allows for storage of data offline as well.

Elaborating on its functioning, Nagar said the technology draws from NFC and cloud computing to produce a complete platform to bridge the world’s maternal and child health gap.

“When a mother comes to health workers they will collect all the information on the android app and take biometric thumbprints and after that, all the data will be sent to the chip via scanning.

“We are using the same radio signal technology which is being used by Samsung and Apple,” he said.

About the security of data, the CEO said the company employs three tiers of security: first, all the information obtained is encrypted; second, biometric thumbprints are required to access the data; and third, the necklace is securely worn by the patient.

A number of innovators showcased their technology at the forum.

One such technology is PenCam, a masterpiece designed for blind people. According to founder Yaman Abou Jieb, the PenCam is a high-resolution camera connected to a mobile phone application to help legally blind people to read and write. Around 200 million people worldwide are considered as legally blind largely owing to age-related macular degeneration and retinitis pigmentosa. The market size for aid devices stood at about $4 billion in 2016.

Other impressive technology showcased was Ahmed Nabeel’s Aquscope, a surgical laparoscope that automates the cleanup process and reduces time spent on surgeries.

Another milestone was Taste.li. Stefano Glauser of Switzerland has produced an algorithm, which automates healthy and personalised meal plans tailored to individuals’ needs and tastes, to help them reach their personal goals from weight loss to muscle gain, or simply to become healthier.

Cost and affordability are some of the main concerns for every innovator. This was apparent in Heartstrings by Allen Mohammadi, a non-invasive and low-cost technology for screening and early diagnosis of heart disease.

By using a patient’s usual medical data including ECG and demographics and by applying a unique artificial intelligence technology, Heartstrings offers a clinically certified decision support tool to doctors and helps them detect heart diseases before it is too late.

Another innovation was Dr Khor Kang Xiang’s CR2-Haptic, a compact and portable rehabilitation robot which provides exercise training for wrist and forearm movement. The device can be used by elderly people, stroke survivors and others who need exercise for their limbs.

Professor the Lord Darzi of Denham, executive chair of WISH, said that the platform is not only about ideas and innovation but it also provides an opportunity to industry leaders, policy makers, ministries and academics to share ideas, celebrate success and confront the challenges facing the world.

During the opening ceremony, Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, chairperson of Qatar Foundation, was presented with the first ‘Q-chip’, highlighting the achievement of the Qatar Genome Programme and Qatar Biobank – both members of Qatar Foundation – in developing the first local Gene Array based on data from thousands of Qatari genomes sequenced during the past three years.

Lopetegui still fragile
Lopetegui’s position in charge of Real remains fragile despite his side claiming a first win in six games by beating Viktoria Plzen 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Five-time champion Roger Federer found a new way to amaze Saturday as he reached the US Open last 16 with a 6-4, 6-1, 7-5 victory over Nick Kyrgios.

The second-seeded Swiss withstood an early onslaught from the unpredictable Aussie, firing 51 winners that included an unlikely forehand flicked around the net post that Kyrgios couldn’t believe.

“Definitely a bit of luck and good feet,” Federer said of the shot that denied Kyrgios a game point — although the Australian would go on to hold for 4-3 in the third set.

Federer had the luxury of a two-set lead when the duo’s most entertaining exchanges thrilled the Arthur Ashe Stadium crowd.

Things would have been much different if Kyrgios could have converted one of four break points in the seventh game of the opening set.

“I think if he breaks there he probably runs away and wins that first set,” Federer said. “He came out firing a lot of aces and feeling good.”

But Federer escaped, breaking Kyrgios to pocket the first set and dominating the second.

“He’s an unbelievable frontrunner,” Kyrgios said. “When he gets in front, there’s not much you can do.”

Federer will be seeking a 13th appearance in the US Open quarter-finals when he plays Australian John Millman, who reached the last 16 of a major for the first time with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory over Kazakhstan’s Mikhail Kukushkin.

Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic was up late on Ashe against French veteran Richard Gasquet.

Djokovic beset by injury and self-doubt to start the season, broke out of the doldrums with his 13th Grand Slam title at the All-England Club.

He backed that up with a Cincinnati Masters title to put himself into the title mix along with Federer and world number one Rafael Nadal despite his relatively modest sixth seeding.

Kerber can’t get it done
The third round was the end of the line for men’s and women’s fourth seeds from Germany — Alexander Zverev and Angelique Kerber.

Kerber, the 2016 US Open winner tying to become the third woman in the last 20 years to win both Wimbledon and the US Open in the same season, was bundled out by Slovakia’s Dominika Cibulkova 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Zverev, the 21-year-old sensation who has lifted titles in Munich, Madrid and Washington this year and reached finals in Miami and Rome fell, 6-7 (1/7), 6-4, 6-1, 6-3 to veteran compatriot Philippe Kohlschreiber.

It was another Grand Slam disappointment for Zverev, touted as the youngster most likely to end the major dominance of Federer, Djokovic and Nadal.

Kohlschreiber will seek a quarter-final berth against 2014 runner-up Kei Nishikori after the Japanese downed Argentine Diego Schwartzman 6-4, 6-4, 5-7, 6-1.

Kerber’s defeat followed the early exits of world number one Simona Halep and No. 2 Caroline Wozniacki — who were both also seeking a second Grand Slam title of the year.

Kerber didn’t blame a domino effect for her departure.

“I just try to go my way, I’m not looking around who was winning or who was losing,” said the German, who was at a loss to account for a bad day at the office.

“You have sometimes days where you are trying everything, but it’s not really working as you wish,” she said.

Cibulkova, the 29th seed, moves on to face 2017 finalist Madison Keys, who shook off a slow start to beat Serbian Aleksandra Krunic 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Sixth-seeded Caroline Garcia of France also departed, beaten 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (7/4) by Spain’s Carla Suarez Navarro, and Czech teenager Marketa Vondrousova sprang a surprise, too, with a 7-6 (7/4), 2-6, 7-6 (7/1) victory over 13th-seeded Belgian Kiki Bertens.

Suarez Navarro, seeded 30th, next faces 2006 champion Maria Sharapova, who defeated 2017 French Open winner Jelena Ostapenko 6-3, 6-2.

Vondrousova, through to a Grand Slam third round for the first time, will play Ukraine’s Lesia Tsurenko, who defeated Czech Katerina Siniakova 6-4, 6-0 after taking out Wozniacki in the second round.

Several stars of Pakistan Cricket on Sunday visited picturesque Naltar Valley in Gilgit Baltistan ahead of Lahore Qalandars players development program trials.

Former captain and chief selector Inzamam ul Haq was joined by his former teammates Aqib Javed and Shoaib Akhtar along with Test cricketer Yasir Shah for this trip.

The group is in Gilgit Baltistan to conduct trials, on Monday, to pick talent for Lahore Qalandars players development program.

And the trip provided them with an opportunity to see the natural beauty of the country.

“Look at these mountains, they are extremely beautiful. We are better than Switzerland and the government must promote tourism industry,” said speedster Shoaib Akhtar.

It was also an opportunity for three former Cricketers to recall their cricketing days and share some laughs.

“It’s always good to sit together,” said Aaqib Javed.

The players, despite their growing age, didn’t hesitate in proving that they are still fit for walking uphill.
